Ms. Amarjeet Kaur Ahuja has had a long illustrious career in the Indian Administrative Services until she retired in the year 2008 as the Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Rajasthan. Starting with the Minimum Needs Programme in early 80s, participated in conceptualisation and overseeing implementation of Integrated Rural Development and Tribal Development Programme and Implementation of MDGs.
Specifically conceptualised & developed a scheme for organisation of beneficiaries and involvement of Civil society organisations for achieving efficiency, transparency and sustainability of government interventions.
Worked as India’s representative in Inter-governmental international organisations on rural development, livelihoods and Poverty alleviation. Was Chairperson of the Executive Committee of Afro-Asian Rural development Organisation and a member of the Executive Committee of Centre for Integrated Development in Asia Pacific.
As Secretary for Education to Government of Rajasthan worked for augmentation of quantity and quality of education at all levels. During this period Education for All was one of the core areas addressed. Towards this conceptualised and formulated a project which was then funded by SIDA.
Post retirement, she has been working asa CEO and member of an Educational Venture to set up two Educational Institutions. Worked as an Advisor and consultant to Indian Institute of Management, Udaipur to develop a collaborative programme of Duke University, US and IIM, Udaipur for Summer School for practising and potential professionals in social sectors .
Was a member of MOEF-UNDP Second National Biodiversity Award Jury , and Chairperson of the Third Award Jury. Was Chairperson of the Expert Committee on Medicinal Plants and Conservation of Biodiversity under National Biodiversity Authority.
She has been advising SAGA on various issues pertaining to social sector and guiding the organisation through her distinguished experience in this sector
